Phuket Trip Day 2~

I know, I know.. It's been like somewhat a gazillion years since posting Day 1 and this, and during that period, classes have already started and I've then been hooked on Usher's song, but in my defence, it's all Blogger's fault!

Dammit - this post took me 1 hr and 14 min to just upload the pics; they've said in their Help guide to revert to the Old Post edittor.. that's just wank! It didn't work. So people who have trouble uploading pics, do what I did: upload your pics one by one. Yup, you need loads of patience!

Anyway, continuing to my va-kay. Phuket reminds me of Penang; it's like Penang on crack. Haha took that line from Giuliana & Bill.

What made it more awesome-r is the fact that there are doggies roaming everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE.

Okay, less talk, more pretty pictures.
Note: As my patience was running low, I didn't manage to put in all the pics I had originally intended. If some of you are lucky and have access to my FB page, feel free to view the complete album there. =)

Since we didn't have the time to look-see on the first day (due to mua), we started the day off at Patong Beach. We rented a car - quite cheap, around 1100baht - and had the whole day to visit the island. Here, I found Nemo! Though, isn't he supposed to be somewhere near Australia? =S

Take 2. Here, you have me...

... and then, you have a man jogging in his Speedos. XD

Like I said, doggies EVERYWHERE! Here's Abo the puppy. You see, we don't even know whether that's the pup's name, a local dude was calling him that. So we just went "Abo! Abo!" Heee he's just a dollop of cuteness! =D

After that, we decided to go where the road took us. But, our rented car ran out of petrol. It's kinda hard to find a decent petrol station in Patong town. Or so we thought. They have lots of gas stations as the one in the pic - manned by shopkeepers. The price by these little stations are not as controlled as the ones at Shell and Esso. =/

Kata Market. Stopped by to buy fruits and have a lil' coffee break. Pa always praised Thai coffee - it's sweet, but it's sweetness doesn't leave you feeling sick. Though, since I wasn't a real coffee lover, I opted for a coconut. It's soooo cheap: only 20 baht. And it tastes great. =)

Next, we went to this shopping mall; I think it's HomePro, I'm not too sure. Walked around. I bought a lil' wooden crafted elephant. Oh and did you know that when an elephant's trunk is up, it means good luck? Awesome stuff.
The pic was at the bakery.
Awesome label, no?

The Big Buddha. It's atop a mountain; they have ATVs there and the journey up takes a long time.

Someone commented in FB that this pic made us look like the PowerPuff Girls! Raincoats for 50baht each (which we later found out that it was only for 20baht elsewhere; things from Patong are a tee-bit more expensive).

The view from atop is just gorgeous. Cobalt blue sea and the town landscape.

Next off, to lunch. Here we are at what Pa calls the Phuket Chinatown. They were preparing for some sort of festival at the time: all the shops were selling white outfits; ALL the shops were selling WHITE, no other colours.

Come evening time, we headed off to Kata/Karon Beach. Sunset. I'll let you think of the proper adjective for this. =)

At night, we decided to walk around places near our hotel. This pic was taken at Bangla Street. As we passed, there were people coming up to us and were offering us to go watch the "Ladies Show". So my point is that Phuket is an awesome va-kay spot, but not so for families with small children.

McD's. Haha call me jakun, but I haven't seen pork burgers sold in McD's before. First time out to another country, remember?

Rock City! Yeah yeah! We ended up there after a long search for the best pub to enter (one of my dad's habits, we'll always search for a place with good live music to enjoy). This one definitely did not let us down. ^^

I got sort of high after that; giggling at no particular reason. My Mom was worried for a while there. ><

Awesome band, awesome Kong prop. =)

Late night snack. We were hungry. Of course barbequed chicken wings sound good at any time of the day.
We even went for a midnight ride in the car. But we didn't know how to get to the other part of the island. So we went back to the hotel at around 1am and decided to call it a day.
P.S. I may/may not post on Day 3. That depends. Blogger's image uploader is a wank, remember?

Phuket Trip~

Before Blogger makes another glitch, I'd better take advantage of the ability to upload pics right...now.
So my family decided that we should all pack up our sunnies and sun block lotion and head on off to Phuket. It was my first time out of the country in 15 years. (yes, it was that long ago)

First off, credits to:

  1. The pilots who flew us there and back home safely.
  2. The taxi driver who drove us in his awesome Camry to our hotel from the airport.
  3. The taxi company lady who gave me an extra plastic bag.
  4. The medical crew in Patong Hospital.
  5. The lady at the reception area of our hotel who directed us to the hospital.
  6. The guy who invented Dimenhydrinate. =)

Day 1 (5th October)

We had to wake up at 2.30am to catch our flight which was departing at 7.30am. I didn't get to sleep at all (which is the worst thing ever if you're going to fly).

Had roti canai at 3.30am. Witnessed a really terrible accident along the way. Reached LCCT at about 6.30-ish.

Fast forward: we were in the plane and before anyone knew it, we were halfway to Phuket and I was asking for a barf bag and hot water.

My first step in a foreign country didn't go so well.

So basically, my first day of the trip was gone because the first thing I saw in Phuket was the wastepaper basket and the sink.

Threw up about 36 times (my sis counted) and then my parents decided enough was enough: off to the hospital.

So this is what I got from the first day:

A receipt showing how much I gotta pay for consultation and my meds, and my medical card. Oh and I got a jab as a souvenir from Thailand too. Talk about being touched deep in one's body, mind and soul after visiting a foreign land.

Felt a whole lot better after, and slept a lil' while and it was time for dinner. Had an authentic Thai vegetarian dish; they use lotsa peanuts and kangkung over there. Plus, everything tastes sweet: the soup, normal fried stuff, and things which are supposed to taste anything but sweet. Gotta get used to it. Wasn't easy. =P

Had a Subway sandwich (chicken teriyaki - yum yum) for supper. Was so drowsy from the med I didn't know what I ordered and before I knew it, we were back in the hotel and I was snarfing down my share. Then it was lights out.

More to come on Day 2 and Day 3.

=(

Sigh. Blogger's being such a biatch. I can't even upload a single pic.
Bummer~

Overexposed~

Okay, is it just me or am I just rambling on empty? How do you grow up? Like, there could be a 40-year-old who still acts like a kid. And me? I just turned 20 and I still feel like how I did back when I was 14. How do I know if I've grown up? I feel like I haven't. And that's a weird feeling.

I see people my age using Blackberries, iPhones, super-canggihfied cellphones and I'm like... *looks down at my own cellphone* Hmm, is it just me or why do I feel like I don't need all those cellphones? But then again, why are people my age using those phones? Is that supposed to mark our sense of maturity or something? If that is so, I must still be a kid.

And then there's the whole social thing. I don't really do social events. I'm awkward by nature, magnified by the fact that I don't have the conventional Asian girl's height. So I tend to stick out so much, it scares me.

Plus, I don't have many friends. I don't know; I feel like I don't know how to choose people to be around with (because of past experiences, they let me down), but those people who are friends now, I cherish them so much.

Somehow I don't know how to tackle a problem head on. I tend to run; run so far away that sometimes when I feel like I can handle the problem, I have ran too far.

Sigh. I feel like I need to see a shrink. =(
