So my family decided that we should all pack up our sunnies and sun block lotion and head on off to Phuket. It was my first time out of the country in 15 years. (yes, it was that long ago)
First off, credits to:
- The pilots who flew us there and back home safely.
- The taxi driver who drove us in his awesome Camry to our hotel from the airport.
- The taxi company lady who gave me an extra plastic bag.
- The medical crew in Patong Hospital.
- The lady at the reception area of our hotel who directed us to the hospital.
- The guy who invented Dimenhydrinate. =)
We had to wake up at 2.30am to catch our flight which was departing at 7.30am. I didn't get to sleep at all (which is the worst thing ever if you're going to fly).
Had roti canai at 3.30am. Witnessed a really terrible accident along the way. Reached LCCT at about 6.30-ish.
Fast forward: we were in the plane and before anyone knew it, we were halfway to Phuket and I was asking for a barf bag and hot water.
My first step in a foreign country didn't go so well.
So basically, my first day of the trip was gone because the first thing I saw in Phuket was the wastepaper basket and the sink.
Threw up about 36 times (my sis counted) and then my parents decided enough was enough: off to the hospital.
So this is what I got from the first day:
A receipt showing how much I gotta pay for consultation and my meds, and my medical card. Oh and I got a jab as a souvenir from Thailand too. Talk about being touched deep in one's body, mind and soul after visiting a foreign land.
Felt a whole lot better after, and slept a lil' while and it was time for dinner. Had an authentic Thai vegetarian dish; they use lotsa peanuts and kangkung over there. Plus, everything tastes sweet: the soup, normal fried stuff, and things which are supposed to taste anything but sweet. Gotta get used to it. Wasn't easy. =P
More to come on Day 2 and Day 3.
